Abstract. This chapter considers the problem of adaptive waveform selection for multistatic tracking of a maneuvering target. An interacting multiple model algorithm incorporating extended Kalman filters is employed to deal with the nonlinearity between the radar observation vector and the target state vector and to handle multiple models of target dynamics. Adaptive Filter Features Adaptive ﬁlters are composed of three basic modules: Filtering strucure Determines the output of the ﬁlter given its input samples Its weights are periodically adjusted by the adaptive algorithm Can be linear or nonlinear, depending on the application Linear ﬁlters can be FIR or IIR Performance criterion Deﬁned according to application and mathematical tractability.
